History of Bonifest

The idea for Bonifest began 26 years ago around a dining room table. Four parishoners were sharing a meal and their discussion led them to the idea of a parish picnic. From these humble beginnings, Bonifest has become the traditional start to summer in Edwardsvills, IL, on the campus of St. Boniface.

In twenty-six years, Bonifest has changed and grown. What began as a parish picnic grew to include games, carnival rides, a variety of food venues, bingo, live music, a raffle, and a 5K Run for Bonifest.

This year Bonifest celebrates its 26th anniversary with the addition of many new fun events while retaining old favorites. Along with the traditional games, food, activities, and the Run for Bonifest (now in its 11th year), Bonifest brings you the Bonifest Rib Cook Off, and a Pancake Breakfast with Chris Cakes. The Main Stage will showcase popular bands including Phins and Paint the Earth. Traditional food favorites including bratwurst, pork steaks, fish, hamburgers, and funnel cakes will return along with a variety of games and Bonafun!
